The supervising teacher of the Thesis chose two bulidings to be the subject of solution, which were used as warehouses of cocoons. These are the biggest buildings of the premises as for the volume, which stand out for their impressing construction and their area (1493,1 & 1486,6 m2). The distance between them is aprox. 125 m. The systém of construction is the same in both the buildings, it is a wooden timber reinforced brick masonry frame in modular size of 3,6 x 6,15 m. The constructive height of street floor of building A is 4,4 m, building B 3,85 m. The clearence of bulinding A is 3,85 m and for building B 3,27m. The clearance of second floor in both objects is 4,84m. The existing inner staircase has one arm and is of 54 cm in width. There is a cargo lift on its … covered by … for the connecting the floor areas. … … of both the building forms together with wooden pillars elements also … . The windows of 160 cm width are set rytmicaly in three consecutive rows, they ensure max lighting of the interior of the buildings. The roofing of the buildings is made from wooden frame structure and covered by tiles. The roof construction is not covered from bottom and therefor they make an impression of one of the most striking elements in the interior. The clean dispositions, the lenght of the halls of 104 m to the adequate width, the clean construction both the brick and the wooden ones, together with impressive lighting, the all form an enormous value resulting in a unique character as a whole.

Vrtek, Tomáš ; Kunc, Ing Petr (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The goal of the bachelor thesis lied in designing a reconstrucion of the late Laundry under the Veveří castle, located at Rakovecká street, Brno-Bystrc. The intention of reconstrucion came from the current owners and had two parts. First part was coming up with new funcion – primarily educational and with focus on environmental topics. Second goal was to design the reconstrucion itself. Designed solution consists of two main functions – recreational habitation units and workshops specilized on teaching of traditional crafts. Because of really bad technical condition of the building and its new projected use, it was necessary to remove and re-desing new roof and ceilling constructions. New glass-facade extension was designed in the court and serves as main circulation area. New, embedded in the slope, building for the manager and variety of new paved areas were designed in close distance. The remediation of nearby pond was proposed as well.

Pospíšilová, Markéta ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Oplatek, Jiří (advisor)
Urbanism In the proposal, I tried the maximum value of existing urban values ??and their emphasis. It is also about making the most of already constructed buildings. I try to revitalize, or. perform their reconversion. Given that the area is in such close contact with nature, I see no reason for there not to try to adequately build up the island. Recently here I am building nine houses, which I concentrated in a structure that shapes its scale and linked to the surrounding buildings polovesnickou, yet is clearly modern. His height makes a "base" significant building mills. The area I was trying to understand what is already the best buildings, the traditional division of space into public spaces and squares, streets and private courtyards. And then the public buildings - solitary - in this case I am referring to the former mill. These classic elements I was trying to recover its proposal and its new structure they build. My next goal was to increase the permeability of the site so that it no longer perceived as complex, but as part of the city. So I connected the shore at ST. John of Nepomuk pedestrian bridge to the island. Spinning or school of architecture Also in the reconstruction of former mills, I thought so - and maximize value to emphasize the already existing buildings and try to understand their logic. On it, then follow a similar mentality when it denies the old new, but nor irrational nezbožšťuje. Boarding school, I allowed the two opposing sides - first from a bridge, and from the square on the island. From the bridge, I tried to maintain access to the laundry room as a bridge, because it is still building separate from the Bridge and it is still clear that he stands on the island. In bridge, I extend the sidewalk at the expense of the road. I realized that the spinning staircase located outside their volume and even the fact that I tried to respond - I have a new escape staircase is also located outside the mill. To do school "with one heart" as I have already described in the essay, I cut through the spinning in the middle of the floor (without the girders and ribs) and I created Respirium with which all space optically interconnected. The beauty of the existing structure will stand out best in the area of ??integrity. But as for teaching and teachers are even separate rooms, I decided to preserve as much unity in the ground - that is accessible to the public, and then on the fourth floor, which in itself is beautiful and will inspire students here who will form his studio work. There is a facility serving the public - library, exhibition details. On the second floor, then follow the stairs in respirium hall with cloakroom, conference room, administration, classrooms and offices. On the third floor, only the classrooms and offices, pattern shop and computer lab. The top floor of the studios are split only low walls and toilets and kitchens in addition to repeating in each floor there are even showers.

Conversion of Dormitory to Training Center of Cultural Heritage Managers, Tomioka Silk Mill, Japan
Dolkošová, Vendula ; Zemánek, Václav (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
Both existing buildings of designed Training Center are situated on the southern edge of the Tomioka Silk Mill above the steep river side. It is former dormitory for female workers and a house of the first manager of the factory Paul Brunat. Preparation of registration of the factory as UNESCO World Heritage Site and its subsequent functional transformation raises the need for trained professionals. Lot of organizations from surrounding area are now studying topic of the Tomioka Silk Mill. Thematic lectures about silk industry, history of the Tomioka Silk Mill and related sites, seminars, workshops and training of guides and other voluntaries, preparation and discussion of propagation of the mill, international conferences of experts of industrial heritage and silk production from all around the world and experts from Gunma prefecture, exhibitions and other events could take place in the new Training Center. Dormitory Rooms for seminars, lectures and offices for temporary teachers are situated in the southern block of former dormitory. In the other block, rooms for short-term accommodation stay in original condition of traditional Japanese style. Connection of waterfront and training center has been achieved through increase of entrances into the training rooms and restroom from the south of the building. This narrow strip of ground is settled by elevated terraces and green areas planted with bamboo. Building of the training center expanded to a new hygienic block on the west side. Part of it slightly exceeds above the river and creates observation terrace and it also makes the walking passage wider. Green atrium is situated between two blocks of dormitory. Brunat House Brunat house is designed for conferences and administration. The first manager has used this object as residence only a few years and then its use was changed to a school for workers of the mill. In addition to the main hall there is entrance foyer, dressing room, sanitary facilities and cafe bar. Administrative body of the Tomioka Silk Mill – the Tomioka Silk Mill Division is situated in the western block of Brunat house. Other activities of this office are: area and building maintenance, care of visitors, guides training, research and works related to world heritage registration. They also collaborate with Gunma government office World Herritage Registration Promotion Division and other experts. Waterfront Waterfront with southern sunlight is ideal for creating place for relax connected to surrounding functions of museum and training centre. Relax waterfront should offer calm corners, opportunity for sitting or lying on the southern sunlight and also nice viewpoint on the mountains surrounding the Tomioka city. It should connect Japanese nature with industrial environment and western style, as it was in the time of establishment of the factory. Training Centre should meet the needs of local organization and also experts from all around the world. Therefore it should be mix of Japanese and western culture.

Campus of Essler’s mills are located on the triangulas plot, which defines river Svitava. In addition to the building spinning-factory the studied area there are several other buildings, which due to its well-preserved elements and structures are becoming valuable and worth it to keep them. A new use spinning is a private school of architecture. I have kept the formel building for weaving and I use it for business and services. From street Fryčajova is the entrance to the minimarket, stationery, bookstore and copy center. On the other side of the pedestrian zone is the main entrance to the library. Another building is a house that has served as an administrative building and warehouse. Very interesting are brick-vaulted rooms on the ground floor, which I use as a wine cellar. Another floor of this building is offices. This building continues building hydropower plants, which maintain and I restores its function. In the following building is the multipurpose space for various courses and training, dining hall and the university club. The last building, which I preserve is a protected historical gallery building. There are apartments for teachers foreign or students, apartment for manager and technical room. New construction on the island are college for student. They are built from prefabricated cells COMA and simple steel structures roofed with corrugated iron roofs. The main idea of school work is based on the Regulations, which develops into the full freedom. School is for 100 students, therefore 50 students in each grade. Students will not be strictly separated, but rather should fade, draw from each experience and everyone should benefit from the building together. The first floor serves "all" - students and teachers, staff and other people who visited the building. In this floor could happen seminars, exhibitions, lectures, as well as various conferences, openings or other similar activities. In the entrance hall is a reception and the necessary space for relaxation. There is a service with a small snack for students or for example for conferences and for various gallery openings. In the secon floor is happening classical learning, verbal and written examinations. This part of the building no longer serves everyone, it is addressed to students, but everything is under the supervision of teachers and school management. There are also offices for teachers, for network administrators and the school hinterland - dean's office, secretaries, secretary and studies department. Included in this are again floor spaces to allow rest and spend free time. Additional floors are a little more closer to students. There are spaces for ateliers, which are divided shelf moving walls. Students can create their own interior as needed. It should be room for criticism, defense, etc. There are a pattern shop and a small study rooms too. Especially for students is the last floor. The area is completely freedom, without walls, also use the mobile racks, allowing variable division. There is a small kitchen, rest area, changing rooms and showers. This large open space is the most beautiful of the whole building. It is also suitable for holding matriculation, graduation, maybe even balls and other social events. Students Lounge is located in the tower is the final peak imaginary freedom. They have access only to her students ...
Technical and economic evaluation of the gas microturbine with the waste heat recovery system
Slovák, Rostislav ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Máša, Vítězslav (advisor)
The use of gas microturbines as a primary unit in CHP is still weak in the industrial process. It gives the driving force to the main aim of this master thesis, which is the technical and economic evaluation of the gas microturbines waste heat recovery system, which is the key factor for their economic sustainability. Assignment contains description of CHP system that was gradually built in LENP laboratory, part of NETME Centre. The author has joined the final work before start-up of the CHP system. He presents and describes results of the first experiments on this unit. The flue gas of a microturbine was used for heating water by heat exchanger flue gas–water and for direct linen drying. The case study of laundry with capacity 10 tons per shift was developed in cooperation with companies in laundry care. Results of those tests were used to process integration and utilization of this professional industrial laundry All obstacles found and opportunities of the use of microturbines are comprehensively described and tested in case studies, which are simulated in Chemstation Chemcad Software. Results of the thesis are expected to be useful these fields: the use of gas microturbines in industry & energy savings in industrial laundries.
WHAT TO DO? Conversion of industrial premises, Brno - Obřany
Kocourek, Tomáš ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Oplatek, Jiří (advisor)
The name of the project prompts the problems of legacy of industrial premises. The goal of my work was to consider, how to use the buildings in the premises in Obřany, Brno. The aim was on the most important object – former building of Essler’s spinning factory, which was supposed to be turned into school of architecture for one hundred students in two school years. The work aims on connection of the area with the city. It solves objects themselves, tries to find accurate usage of them, for example commersial premises, student housing and so on. All this is united with the concept of „union“, which goes throught the whole area and tries to create simple a most of all plesant public places. The school – building of former spinning factory – disclose it’s strenght in it‘s open space, when the whole structure of the building is visible. I came from this conviction into my project, that agreed with my image of open shool. I wanted to design a school, where students could create together, where they would have review of the whole space, about other students. Tuitions would become public matter, where everybody could join.
